Campus Wireless Networks Setup

Official configuration instructions for Student, Guest, and Eduroam networks.

   💡 Mandatory Browser Login: Across all platforms, associating with the Wi-Fi SSID is only the first step[cite: 327]. You must open a web browser (Safari, Chrome, or Edge) and input your NetID credentials to clear the university captive portal gateway for active internet access.

📱 Student Wi-Fi Configuration ("Student" SSID)

🤖 Android Devices

Enable Wi-Fi, select the Student SSID from your available network panel, and deploy these parameters[cite: 36]:

EAP Method:	PEAP [cite: 55]
Phase 2 Auth:	MSCHAPV2 [cite: 56]
CA Certificate:	Use system certificates [cite: 57]
Online Cert Status:	Don't validate [cite: 58]

⚠️ Note: You must completely turn off Private DNS in your system settings to avoid destination resolution failures[cite: 63].

🍏 Apple iOS / iPadOS

1. Navigate to Settings → Wi-Fi and enable the antenna toggle[cite: 67].
2. Select Student from your network population array[cite: 93].
3. Enter your unique campus NetID and matching security password, then tap Join[cite: 96].
4. When the *.snu.in security certificate payload validation prompts, click Trust[cite: 102, 104].
5. Open Safari to execute your captive gateway profile authentication[cite: 135].

🪟 Windows Manual 802.1X Profile Setup

1. Right-click your taskbar tray Wi-Fi asset icon and select Open Network and Sharing Center[cite: 167, 168].
2. Click Set up a new connection or network → Choose Manually connect to a wireless network[cite: 169, 170].
3. Set Network Name to Student and choose Security Type: WPA-2Enterprise[cite: 175, 176].
4. Click Change connection settings, then enter the Security tab[cite: 177, 181].
5. Click Settings next to the authentication method dropdown[cite: 182].
6. Uncheck "Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate"[cite: 183].
7. Click Configure right below it and uncheck "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password"[cite: 183, 184]. Click OK.
8. From Advanced Settings, check Specify authentication mode, select User Authentication, click Save Credentials, and input your fixed NetID account details[cite: 185, 190, 191].

Linux Ubuntu

1. Click the network engine indicator on the top panel array and highlight Student[cite: 222].
2. Configure Authentication mode to Protected EAP (PEAP)[cite: 275].
3. Set Inner Authentication to MSCHAPv2, complete your NetID credentials, and select Connect[cite: 276, 290].
4. When alerted with a missing Certificate Authority flag, click Don't warn me again and proceed via Ignore[cite: 303, 306].

🌐 Guest Wireless Provisioning ("GUEST" SSID)

External university visitors can access campus networks using our self-provisioning gateway matrix[cite: 337]:

📝 Registration Step

1. Associate with the open GUEST SSID[cite: 338].
2. Tap "Sign into the network" to prompt the Cloudflare-protected Self Registration Page[cite: 23, 339].
3. Provide your host Sponsor Name, personal email, contact number (using prefix "0"), and duration of visit[cite: 342, 347, 348, 349]. Click Register[cite: 350].

🔒 Verification Box

The Log In action element stays disabled during registration processing[cite: 356]. Your sponsor must authorize your session check before our engine sends your passcode via SMS/Email text strings[cite: 356, 377, 378].

✍️ Faculty & Staff Sponsor Approval Workflow

When a visitor lists you as their host, you must clear their clearance query:

• Locate incoming system mail validation notes from [email protected][cite: 395].
• Subject Header reads: Wireless access request from [Guest Email Address][cite: 395].
• Click the secure red-circled "click here" validation text inside the text block to access the portal dashboard[cite: 405, 410].
• Review your guest's metadata profile and click Confirm to establish network access permissions[cite: 429, 432].
